A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized is about a dragon with his new “disciple”, she thinks that the dragon is the most powerful being, but not everything is what it seems. Here is our full A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized Review.
The season was aired in the Summer 2022 anime season in china but the Japanese dub was released in the Winter 2023 anime season. A Herbivorous Dragon of 5,000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized was animated by Studio LAN and Produced by bilibili. The anime is based on the Light Novel of the same name.
The anime revolves around Jaryuu, a girl to be sacrificed to a herbivore dragon, or “the evil dragon” as he is being called most of the time. The dragon is supposed to be the strongest being in the world, as the legends that got passed down at least. This is not the way it actually is, because the dragon is actually a herbivore and only eats plants and fruit, not meat.
While the dragon doesn’t kill and eat the girl, she does become his new minion and helps save him in dangerous situations, but most people think that the dragon gave the girl great power, but this is not the case, the girl is actually the most powerful being. Together they go on an adventure to go after the Demon King, but that doesn’t really happen in the anime, but they do visit 2 cities where they meet new friends.

I liked the 13-minute episode runtime, it was a perfect length for what the story had to offer and if it would have been 20-minute episodes I think it would have felt a bit lackluster. The anime didn’t feel like it actually set out to do what they set up at the start, they just went to 2 cities and chilled there for a bit and never even went close to the Demon King. So while the setup is there, it felt kinda lackluster and generic
Visually is where this anime stands out the most, while it isn’t necessarily unique, it still felt like the characters all felt like actual characters and not carbon copies of X characters from X anime that you see a lot of the time. the animation was really clean and some of the designs looked very good, with this not being a full 20-minute anime the animation I think some more time got put into that a bit more.
