Akebi’s Sailor Uniform is about Komichi Akebi, a girl that is transferring to a new school for 1 reason, a sailor uniform. It’s a slice of life, so it doesn’t really need more than that to make for an interesting story, but it’s really chill to watch if you wanna take a break from everything. It really gives me a Non Non Biyori vibe with how chill it is actually.
So it was her dream to get into a school with a uniform like that her whole life, but her little sister is a little bit sad about it because now they are not going to the same school anymore. I didn’t know this was a thing in Japan, but her mother is making the uniform from scratch all on her own and Komichi is so happy about it that she is doing all the chores around the house so her mom can work on the uniform more.
When she finally does get to the school, she is the only one in a sailor uniform and the rest is all wearing blazers. This of course makes her very sad, but because this was one of the main reasons she went to that school, she is allowed the wear the sailor uniform.
She is a bit scared because she is the only one that is going to be wearing that uniform but goes with it anyway. but when she does go to school, the 1st person she sees… is clipping her toenails and smelling the clipper? it’s a bit weird. After talking to the girl for a bit she finds out she does it when she gets anxious, and she even smells her own feet to make her feel more comfortable
There is something with the art that makes it look really interesting, it’s not the usual crisp and sleek style that you see most of the time these days, but everything feels really detailed and on point with every frame you see. The art of really normal, but it does have these weird feet shots at the beginning that are kinda off-putting sometimes. there are also some weird shots that stand out with a totally different artstyle that looks more like the images from the manga.
